I was very excited to join the first dance movement outing at st james park in sj downtown. I usually dance and worship God in the parks and places where there is lots of space on my own. So I was excited to do it with other like minded dancers. I thought it was really cool that we were able to dance to different forms of music in our different styles of dance. Some of us were ballet dancers, some of us were hip hop, and some of us were modern dancers. But we were able to bring that diversity together to praise God. A couple kids were drawn to us but they were too shy to come up to us. So we invited them to join us while we danced. We got to talk to them a little bit as well as their families. Upon rapping up our time at the park, I noticed an elderly woman who had a leg problem so I approached her. I offered to pray for her leg and she was very open to receive it. She shared that she was actually a Christian and a bit about her life and family. Because she was Mandarin speaking, I was able to pray for her in Chinese. I really enjoyed dancing in a public space amongst the homeless, low-income, and people of different ethnicities. And what was most rewarding was being able to touch some of these people’s lives even if it was a smile, a prayer, or unspoken communication through movement.
